If choosing the metro option to travel from Barajas to Sol but - after carefully assessing whether you will be using it enough to need this - using not an individual metro ticket but a Zone A pass, or for that matter a 10 Metrobus card, you would need to pay the Airport Ticket Supplement of €3. This is a total of 13 stations so for an individual ticket, this would cost the maximum (9+ stations) for an individual metro ticket from the airport, that is €5. at Nuevos Ministerios onto the circular L6, anti-clockwise, 1 stop to Cuatro Caminos, and then onto L1, direction Valdecarros, to Sol.
And as already noted above, for getting to Sol, you would do better to take the Cercanías system all the way, which means starting on C1 and changing to C3/C4, for a total cost of €2.60 (at least it was last time I looked).īut if you DID want to take the metro, you would indeed start (from either T1/2/3 or T4) on L8, but then to reach Sol, you would have to change twice, e.g. In case you haven't realised this from the above, line 8 is part of the metro system and C3/C4, part of the regional railway system (C = Cercanías). You can either get off at chamartin or nuevos ministerios station and transfer to c3 or c4 to sol. To take the cercanias you will go downstair at t4 and pay 2.60€ to go to sol. With the cercanias you do not have to pay the 3€ supplement every time you take the metro to and from the airport. If you want to save money it is better to take the cercanias out of t4.
